You have probably heard all there is to hear about finding out your face shape, and you might think that it stops there, but that is not the case. Your eye shape falls into one of the six main categories. Knowing your eye shape will help you emphasize your best features and learn how to flatter them best when applying makeup and false eyelashes.

What is my eye shape?

There are eight main eye shapes that your eyes could be, and those are almond, deep-set, hooded, monolid, round, downturned, and upturned. Each of the eye shapes is fabulous and beautiful in its own way. However, once you are familiar with your eye shape and its characteristics, you will be able to do your makeup better and choose the false eyelashes that suit you best.

Almond Eyes

Lucky you - almond eyes are the most universal eye shape. A full lash style looks great on you.

Almond-shaped eyes are longer in width than they are round, and they have a smaller eyelid, making them look like they are shaped like an almond. Almond eye shape tapers to a point by the tear duct and the outer eye. The outer part of the cornea of the almond-shaped eye is usually hidden under the top and bottom lids. Almond-shaped eyes also feature a noticeable crease on the eyelid.

Almond eyes are blessed with versatility, and you should take full advantage of no restrictions when it comes to depth or length. Almond eyes will look mesmerizing with  long, glamorous lashes. Moreover, if you go for a winged liner, you are golden!

If you want to go for a more subtle and natural look, you can also go for  shorter and more natural eyelashes; your eye shape allows that.

Hooded Eyes

If most of your upper lid is hidden when your eyes are open, create depth with eye-opening lashes.

Hooded eyes often feature a heavy brow bone above the eye itself, which usually comes with a deep-set crease that creates a hood above the eye. The eyelid is not generally visible when hooded eyes are open and retracts into the crease. As people with hooded eyes age, their eyelid space tends to get diminished, taking on a hooded appearance.

Hooded eyes will look beautiful with false lashes that combine short and long lash lengths that are layered to create the illusion of depth.

Round Eyes

With your large, round eyes, long lashes and dramatic curl will lift and enhance your upper lid.

Round eyes are often larger than the average eye, and they look more circular. Round eyes tend to be the most prominent feature on the face. The outer and inner corners of round eyes are rounded as well, and they are not either pulled inward or outward.

Round eyes have a fantastic dimension that you should play around with and use to your advantage! Make sure to further enhance this depth by using  wispy and winged eyelashes that will draw out the length of your lash line and open your eyes out even more.

Monolid Eyes

Since there's no visible eyelid crease, choose lighter wispy lashes for a fluttery, wide-eyed look.

The most prevalent trait of monolid eyes is the less visible crease of the eye. This type of eye is the most common in Asian women and men. Monolid eyes are often called a shallow or smooth eyelid, and it does not reveal as much if any of the eyelids. Monolid eyes also tend to be smaller in size.

Get the drama you are after looking for with shorter, half-set, lighter lashes that should be glued to the outer corner of your eye only. Make sure to pair them with winged eyeliner that is going to emphasize your lash line subtly.

And if you are looking for the perfect everyday lashes that will fit your natural makeup look, go for some lightweight, wispy, natural-looking lashes.

If you have a monolid eye shape, make sure to stay away from denser, double-layered lashes because they can make the eyelids of your monolid eyes seem weighed down, heavy, and "too much."

Deep set Eyes

Your elegant deep set eyes sit behind the brow bone, so create depth with a dramatic lash style.

Some people refer to deep-set eyes as "deep-seated eyes" because they are set deeper into the skull. Deep-set eyes are unique because they set deeper in the eye socket, creating an illusion of a more prominent and emphasized eyebrow bone.

pair of long and curled lashes will visually enhance the size of deep-set eyes, open them up and emphasize them.

Downturned Eyes

Your eyes drop down slightly towards each outer edge. Great eye shape for creating cat-eye look.

The outer corners of downturned eyes are usually lower than the inner corner of the eye. This eye type is also known as a "descending eyelid," and it features an upper lid that dips to meet the lower lash line. Downturned eyes are that captivating eye shape that many movie starlets from the 1920s had.

If you have downturned eyes, make sure to stay away from false eyelashes that are too heavy and dense because they will only highlight the downturn. Instead, go for wispy lashes, natural-looking, and low-volume lashes.

Upturned Eyes

Enhance your natural lift in the outer corners. Try lashes that get shorter towards the outer edges.

This eye shape is the complete opposite of the downturned eyes. Upturned eyes tend to have outer corners that turn upward slightly and are higher than the inner corner. This eye shape is also known as "cat-eye." Upturned eyes tilt upward, which gives the eye an exotic appearance. The bottom lash line of this type of eyes is curved upward in order to meet the top lashes at the outer corner.

False lashes in a classic winged shape that get longer towards the outer corner will best emphasize the upward flick that upturned eyes feature, which will all highlight their natural, catlike eye shape.
